LA Zoo
After volunteering at the Zoo for two years in the California Condor Recovery Program, LouAnne learned first-hand about the life changing work these folks are doing—not just for condors but endangered species all over the world. The Zoo is part of the AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) which sets an exceptionally high criterion that includes excellent welfare for animals (for their entire lives) and a mission guided by global conservation programs. Only 10 percent of zoos in the US meet the AZA requirements. The LA Zoo is one of them. They are, literally, saving species from extinction.
Ventana Wildlife Society
We got to know these wonderful folks through their partnership in the California Condor Recovery Program with our friends at The LA Zoo. Ventana is committed to conserving and supporting native wildlife and their habitats in Northern California. In 2020 they suffered the terrible loss of their facilities, field pen, and California Condors themselves due to fires. We are so grateful to them for their relentless dedication and are deeply committed to their rebuilding.
California Wildlife Center
If you live in the Los Angeles area and have found injured wildlife there’s a good chance you’ve called or dropped off to CWC. They are the unsung heroes who help our birds, mammals, and marine life persevere in this big city and we can’t imagine what we’d do without them.
Sweetbriar Nature Center
These folks put a smile on our faces! They are helping their community by rehabilitating creatures, educating humans, and delighting and nurturing all souls collectively. We need more more more of them!
Angel City Pit bulls
One word will be enough to say here: STOGIE! And, if our 60lb potato isn’t reason enough, let us tell you we’ve worked with our friends at ACPB for over 10 years and have watched them grow from a small rescue to a cherished resource for pets in national emergencies and founder/partner of a low cost clinic to assist families in keeping their beloved pets healthy. They take care of their beloveds no matter what the health issues are and make sure everyone finds the right, loving family. WE LOVE ANGEL CITY PIT BULLS.
Delaney’s Dog Rescue
Three words to say here: Pepito, Chupe and Diego! Although we might have a few more toilet paper rolls in our possession we can’t imagine life without any one of them. Maureen (the founder) has brought so much joy and shenanigans into our lives, and to countless others, that we should be sending her a thank you card every single day.
